Some Financial Questions for Women to Consider

Today, I’d like to encourage you to consider the following questions and how they may apply to your situation.

While these are only a small sample of the questions that need to be explored in the creation of your personal financial plan, my hope is that they will give you an indication of the types of conversations I have with the women I work with.

And more importantly, I hope they will motivate you to discuss these with your financial advisor.

Let’s get started:

  1. Would you be willing to work one year longer than your ideal retirement age if it meant you could reduce your current savings in order to spend more now?
  2. If you could have confidence in meeting or exceeding your long-term financial goals like retirement and paying for your children’s education while investing in a portfolio with less investment risk than your current portfolio, why take more risk?
  3. Would you consider giving up the hope of outperforming the market in exchange for the certainty of knowing that you will not underperform?
  4. Have you and your spouse ever sat down and dreamed about your “bucket list” of things that you dream about doing in your lives that you have not yet done?
  5. Has your present advisor shown you specifically how to accomplish any of the above?
  6. How important is it for you to make sure your finances are helping you make the most of your one shot at life?

I hope the above questions have you thinking about your financial planning and investment decisions from a different perspective. After all, we’re talking about your one and only life, and this certainly isn’t a dress rehearsal.

Many advisors spend the majority of their time talking about the market and how to invest, but you need to always be clear about why you’re investing in the first place.

It’s about you and your life.
